Project overview

Crystal Technology implemented a comprehensive Hospital Information System (HIS) at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka between 2018 and 2019. One of Dhaka's busiest public hospitals, Suhrawardy handles an enormous daily patient load across its emergency, outpatient, inpatient, and diagnostic departments.

The Notice of Award (NOA) was issued in May 2018, initiating a multi-phase implementation that covered software deployment, hardware provisioning, IT infrastructure development, and extensive staff training. The project was designed to digitize the hospital's core operational workflows and create a unified information platform connecting all major departments.

This project was a significant milestone for Crystal Technology, demonstrating our capability to deliver HIS solutions at the scale of a major tertiary-care teaching hospital with hundreds of beds, dozens of departments, and thousands of daily patient interactions.

Scope of work

HIS Software Deployment

Implementation of a full-featured Hospital Information System covering patient registration, OPD management, IPD admission and discharge, emergency triage, consultation records, and clinical documentation across all major departments.

Hardware Provisioning

Supply and installation of desktop computers, monitors, printers, barcode scanners, label printers, and networking equipment at registration counters, nursing stations, doctor chambers, pharmacy, laboratory, and administrative offices.

IT Infrastructure Development

Design and deployment of the hospital's digital backbone including structured LAN cabling, network switches, server infrastructure, centralized data storage, UPS power protection, and Wi-Fi coverage across clinical and administrative areas.

Multi-Phase Implementation

Structured rollout across multiple phases — beginning with registration and billing, followed by pharmacy and laboratory integration, then clinical modules — to minimize disruption to the hospital's high-volume daily operations during the transition.

Comprehensive Staff Training

Extensive training programs covering doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab technicians, billing staff, and hospital administrators, with role-specific curricula, hands-on practice sessions, and post-training assessment to ensure confident system adoption.

Go-Live Support & Maintenance

Dedicated on-site support team during the critical go-live period to handle real-time issues, followed by ongoing maintenance services including software updates, performance monitoring, database management, and helpdesk support.
